Arunachalee makes it to international tournament

ITANAGAR, Jun 24: Master Manwang Tingkhatra, son of Minister Newlai Tingkhatra has been selected to participate in an international Football tournament “Copa Foot 21” at Algarve, Portugel from June 24 to 30. Master Manwang is among the under-13 team from the Genesis Global School, Noida, where he is  presently studying in Class VII.

The Baichung Bhutia Football School has provided necessary coaching and preparatory matches with other school and academy teams in Delhi to prepare the kids from India to compete against the best in the world.

About 120 teams in three age groups of under 9, under 11 and under 13  will be participating in the competition.

 

AAPBSU hits back at APCSD

ITANAGAR, Jun 24: All Arunachal Pradesh Border Students’ Union (AAPBSU), today again hit back at Arunachal Pradesh Congress Seva Dal (APCSD) for leveling unfounded allegation against the Union and opposing the proposed 26-hour Capital bandh on June 26.

While deciding to go ahead with its proposed June 26 bandh call, AAPBSU cautioned the Seva Dal to refrain from making any comment against the union and the issues raised by it without having any knowledge.

“Not the Union leaders but those alleging have been taking advantage from various departments by misutilizing their power and position, AAPBSU said while hitting back at Seva Dal allegation that many organizations of the bandh callers now use bandh as a tool to pressurize the govt to fulfill the vested interests.

Keeping in mind the inconvenience likely to be faced by the examinees during the bandh call, the Union exempted the examinees, a football tournament and all other emergency services like, fire, ambulance, milk van, media, magistrate on duty from purview of the 24-hr bandh call.

Meanwhile, Ramle Banggo Students' Union and Jigo Yejo Youth Association  Likabali   have extended their support to the 24 hrs state wide Bandh call by the Union.

 

Union extends time

ITANAGAR, Jun  24: All Papum Pare District Students’ Union (APPDSU) has extended its ultimatum served to the PWD highway division, Itanagar for 60 days on certain terms and conditions of providing special transportation facility to the public of Papum Poma to reach Itanagar by the formation cutting agency and compensation to the affected land owners by the district administration within 60 days.

The decision was taken in an emergency meeting of the Union with the highway formation cutting agency and representatives of PWD Highway Division on expiry of the 48-hrs ultimatum served to PWD Highway Division, Itanagar for immediate suspension of the formation cutting work between Holongi and Itanagar.

APPDSU, however, threatened to force the suspension of further execution of the work if compensation payments are not released to the affected within two months.

Clarifying their stand on early execution of the work, the representative of both the highway department and construction agency reasoned that they started the work emphasizing on the importance of speedy progress of the Highway Project for overall development of the state. The road has been closed for safety of passerby during formation cutting work since the work involves high risk to both traffic and passerby, the release added.

 

Toppers felicitated

ITANAGAR, Jun 24:  Nabam Welfare Society (NWS) felicitated the toppers of Class-X, XII, APJEE-2012 and other distinguished career achievers of Nabam clan yesterday.

Senior member and former chairman of Arunachal Pradesh Public Service Commission (APPSC) Nabam Atum while congratulating the toppers urged them not to be complacent with these success but cautioned them that there lies a bigger responsibility and challenges ahead for them.

The Nabam Welfare Society hoped that all the toppers and distinguished career achievers will act as a role model and inspire the younger generation of the clan to do better in their life.

Arunachal BS&G team brings laurel to state

ITANAGAR, Jun 24: The Arunachal contingent of Bharat Scouts and Guides (BS&G) was adjudged overall 2nd best in the north east regional level Patrol Leaders Jamborette held at NEHERMA, Nagaland from June 19 to 23.

The team of 8 Scouts and 8 Guides from Govt Hr Secondary, Arunodaya, Secondary School, Ganga and Middle Schools, P –Sector and Police Colony headed by Scout Masters Kakio Siga and Y Tacha also won the 1st position in-Pioneering Camp Craft and Patrol Cooking,  2nd in March Past and 3rd in patrol system.

Besides C Lowang, SOC (Guides) and P Kalita, DTO Upper Subansiri, L M Jain, retired National Commissioner, BS&G  and Rakesh Sharma, BS&G director, New Delhi  witnessed the  event and appreciated the performance of Scouts and Guides.

Meanwhile, State Chief Commissioner (DSE) T Taloh and other staff of the state BS&G headquarters congratulated the Arunachal team for its excellent performance in the Jamborette.

 

Society extends helping hand

ITANAGAR, Jun 24: Tamai Welfare Society (TAWSO) constructed a traditional Mishmi house for an old and ailing lady at Loilang village recently.

The ailing old lady was living in an unhygienic condition in a dilapidated house. Besides the members of the TAWSO, who contributed bamboos, wood, ropes, rice, meat, nails, CGI sheets  and other construction material, Parliamentary Secretary cum Local MLA Karikho Kri also donated CGI Sheets.

Flash flood in Dibang Valley, Lohit and Changlang districts

Village submerged in Bordumsa subdivision

ITANAGAR, Jun 24: There are reports of flash flood at Dibang Valley, Lohit and Changlang districts in the last 24 hours triggered by heavy downpour.  

Atleast 16 houses had been washed away while another 55 houses are severely inundated due to flash flood at Bijoypur-I and II villages under Bordumsa circle of Changlang district this afternoon. A number of livestock have reportedly been drowned besides extensive damage to standing crops. The turbulent Noa Dehing river has split Bijoypur village into two halves and the other half situated on right bank is inaccessible since this morning. The flash flood was caused due to torrential rainfall as well as breakage of anti-erosion protection work constructed on left bank of Noa Dihing river to protect Bijoypur village-I and III.

The floods have completely damaged WRD’s anti-erosion project which has caused extensive damage to a portion of village at Bijoypur-I and III cutting them off from rest of the world.

ADC Bordumsa Kento Riba accompanied by Bordumsa Police and medical team rushed to flood affected villages early this morning and inspected the affected sites by utilizing services of country boats available with the villagers.

While interacting with the affected villagers, the ADC had ordered for temporal closure of Govt. ME School, Bijoypur till situation returns to normal. The school has been turned into a temporary relief camp.

He also requested flood affected people to shift to a safer place along with their livestock in order to avert any flood related incident. The situation is still grim due to continuous down pour.

Ground survey further reveals extensive damage to a under construction RCC bridge over a small stream at Bijoypur. The stone crusher of the PMGSY contractor has been submerged in flash flood. Local administration has announced Rs. 2000 each to affected families along with essential items.

A committee is being constituted to assess the extent of damage caused due to the flood for onward submission to Govt.

CHOWKHAM: Lohit , Kamlang, Morakamlang, Sibri and  Berreng rivers in Lohit district on spate which has caused heavy damages to the properties and agricultural fields  of Alubari, Napotia area under Chongkham-Wakro Assembly Constituency. Water level continued to rise till the filing of this report.

The flood protection works at Alubari constructed under MGNREGA has been completely damaged  yet again. Flood Protection  Projects  undertaken at Sibrimukh and Alubarimukh  by the Department of WRD have also been completely washed out besides damages to several others.

Chow Tewa Mein, the local legislator-cum- Parliamentary Secretary is personally monitoring the relief works.

He has directed the officers and officials of all Government departments to remain vigilant to the situation and take every precautionary measure to avoid any untoward incidents.

K. Nyodu, EAC, Chongkham apprised the Parliamentary Secretary of all the vulnerable sites where breach of embankments and river banks are anticipated.

Unless concrete protection works are taken up on war-footing, there is every possibility of the July 2004 like incident where all the low lying areas including the residence of the local legislator were completely inundated due to flash flood, a report said.

ANINI: Following torrential rain in the district for the last several weeks, the Kanchi Nallah Bailey Bridge  located at about 15 kms from Anini was completely washed away by a heavy flash flood this morning. The bridge was serving as one of the  lifeline connecting Anini with Etalin, Anelih and Arzoo circles of the district besides connecting the Dibang Valley with rest of the world. During the 24 hrs, 144.46 mm of rainfall was recorded. The road between Etalin-Maliney, Arzoo-Etalin- Roing is also cut off.

The District Hq and its adjoining areas are reeling under darkness since last two days as the Awapani and Chini-Afra Mini Hydel has suffered major damages due to heavy flash floods.

Deputy Commissioner, Abu Tayeng accompanied by DIPRO and DF&CSO rushed to the spot on foot for physical inspection of the site.

Surprisingly, no officials from the Border Road Organisation (BRO) were present on the spot. Many minor blockades at different locations have also taken place.

Minister, UD Rajesh Tacho placed the services of one excavator for immediate clearance of the blockage. The road between Anini and Kanchi Nallah was made motorable within the same day by using the excavator.

Going by past experience the re-launching of the bridge by the BRO would require minimum four to five months.

Earlier in the day, keeping in concern the alarming situation of the district, the Deputy Commissioner called an emergency meeting of the all head of offices and  public leaders  of the district  to chalk out feasible strategies to tide over the  present situation.

The delay in allotment and lifting of buffer stock of PDS items by FCI was discussed in the meeting. It is learnt that two truckloads of PDS items have been stranded at Arzoo since last one week. Instruction, have already been passed to CO, Arzoo and DF&CSO to arrange transshipment and lifting of the PDS items to Anini.

Upper Subansiri:   The people Debom, Dera, Nipu, Nidak, Gamukrijo and Raririjo under Gusar circle in Upper Subansiri district remained cut off for two days as the suspension bridge over Subansiri river, the lifeline of the villagers, has been washed away by flood water on Friday last. Meanwhile Tani Tator Welfare Society, Tani Tator Youth Welfare Society, Disco Katu Welfare Society and Dumporijo Assembly Constituency Youth Congress Committee have jointly appealed for the early restoration of bridge and immediate relief to affected villagers.

 

 

Bailey bridge caves in, road communication snaps

RUKSIN, Jun 24: A  Bailey Bridge over Ngorlung Korong near Ruksin gate caved in last night, snapping  road communication on Mirem-Mikong-Jonai (MMJ) PWD road.

The bridge caved in when a 10-wheeler truck with load beyond permissible limit was crossing it. Fortunately, the driver and handyman of the truck escaped unhurt.

The section engineer of PWD here said that maximum load capacity of the bridge is only nine tones. But the truck was carrying a load of about 15 tones, which caused the bridge to cave in. He blamed the police at Ruksin gate, who allegedly allowed the heavy truck to proceed further without any verification.

But, the locals alleged that there was no plate or signboard at the bridge indicating its bearing capacity. They have also blamed the local police for not regulating the movement of heavy vehicles along the road.

“Our PRI leaders and Gaonburahs had received a circular from the administration regarding capacity of the weak Bailey bridges”, opined Ruksin block ZPM Tonggeng Panyang, while adding that they are demanded a magisterial inquiry. Apart from the bridge, the MMJ road, which is vital lifeline for villages in Mirem, Mikong and Bilat and Ledum areas have not been repaired in the last two decades.

There are three other weak Bailey bridges on this route including one over Silley (Ruksin), Niglok and Peneng (Mirem) rivers which have not been repaired putting the lives of many on risk.

 

 

Pema inspects tourism infrastructure in Tawang

TAWANG, Jun 24: Tourism Minister Pema Khandu alongwith Secretary Tourism Sonam Chombey inspected the tourism infrastructure  including the ongoing projects  on Tawang-PTSO-Shongatser Lake-Taktsang Gompa-Zemithang-Lumla route.  

At Pangateng Tso, popularly known as PTSO, the duo inspected the ongoing project of lake beautification. Pema directed the executing agency PWD and the contractors at the site for ensuring quality of work and completion of the project before onset of next tourist season. At Shongatser Lake,  which is one of the most favoured tourist destinations, the duo inspected the newly constructed “walk-around footpath” and  directed the District Tourism Officer present at the site for assessing the other need based  requirements. Little ahead of Shongatser Lake is the serene Taktsang Gompa, literally meaning “Tiger’s Den”. It is a major pilgrimage site and tourist hotspot frequently visited by a huge number of devotees and tourists round the year. The Minister and Secretary duo also inspected the “Way Side Amenity” and the Tourist Rest House here alongwith officers of  executing agency RWD.

Realizing the need for immediate utilization of the buildings, Pema directed the executing agency to carry out the minor maintenance jobs at the earliest. Further, he directed Secretary Tourism to explore the feasibility of leasing out the assets as Tourism Department lacked the required man power.

At Zemithang, near Gorsam Chorten, the duo inspected the existing Tourist Lodges. As the assets were already leased out to private parties, Pema spoke to Zemithang Circle Officer to ensure proper maintenance of the assets by the private party and then proceeded to Lumpo where a “Meditation Centre” is under construction.

Later, the Minister along with Secretary visited the Lumpo post of Indian Army and spent the night interacting with the officers and Jawans of Indian Army manning the post. Lumpo post is perched just above the last Indian village by the same name that witnessed one of the bloodiest battles during the Chinese aggression of 1962.

On the way back to Tawang today, Pema and the Secretary Tourism visited the ongoing project of “construction of Dolma Lhakhang at Lumla” and “Lumla Tourist Lodge”. They were joined by MLA Lumla Jambey Tashi , ADC in-charge and other heads of the departments of Lumla during their visit at Lumla.

Sensing the huge tourism potentials of Tawang-PTSO-T Gompa-Zemithang-Tawang route, Pema felt that the route should also be opened up for  foreign tourists and directed the Secretary (Tourism) to immediately process the matter for taking  up at appropriate level. The Minister, in his meeting with Commander 190 Mountain Brigade on June 22, had already urged the latter to take up the matter from his end too. DIPRO

 

 

Conglomeration of Orgs oppose bandh

ITANAGAR, Jun 24: A conglomeration of organizations today vociferously opposed the proposed 24 hours bandh call announced by All Arunachal Pradesh Border Students Union on June 26 and 27.

Various students’ organizations and Bazaar Committees in a joint coordination meeting held under the initiative of All Nyishi Students’ Union (ANSU) here took serious exception to the repeated capital bandh calls being proposed by numerous ‘unrecognized organizations which are not mandated by the people and do not have any social sanction.’  Instead of working for the society’s welfare, these bunches of bandh callers are proving to be harmful to the public interest since they are announcing bandhs on even petty issues which can be easily resolved through discussions, the meeting observed.

The house unanimously resolved to defy any bandh call in Capital Complex in the near future and also resolved to oppose the proposed 24 hours bandh call. The organizations further appealed to the state Govt to take stringent action against ‘unrecognized’ organizations which call bandhs at the drop of a hat and create public nuisance.

The coordination meeting attended by the representatives of the All Nyishi Youth Association (ANYA), Arunachal Law Students’ Union (ALSU), All Papum Pare District Students’ Union (APPDSU), All Kurung Kumey District Students’ Union (AKKDSU), All Lower Subansiri Students’ Union (ALSSU), All East Kameng Students’ Union (AEKSU), the ANSU’s Upper Subansiri District Unit and the Bazaar Committees of Naharlagun and Itanagar further appealed to the office goers and general public to defy the proposed bandh call on June 26 and 27.  They also appealed to the business communities to open their business establishments as usual. Large members of these organizations would come out on the street to ensure normal life of common people on June 26 and 27, said  the release issued by ANSU.

The joint coordination meeting acknowledged that the Nyishi Elite Society (NES) and the ANSU are competent enough to take up matters of social importance with the appropriate authorities. In fact, the NES and the ANSU are already in touch with the Nyishi people living on the boundary areas with Assam, the release said. Further, the issue related to Tarasso has been taken up by the NES and any developments are being closely monitored, the house observed while saying that the AAPBSU’s bandh does not hold any ground.

 

 

Realities of politics and corruption

ITANAGAR, Jun 24: One of the most talked about topic among citizens of Arunachal is corruption besides party politics. Politics gets first position because like citizen of Bihar and Uttar Pradesh states, Arunachalee people live, eat and sleep politics. During assembly and Panchayat elections, family gets divided into pieces. Brothers bay for each other’s blood just to make sure that their respective candidates win the election.

From a college student to ordinary villagers and to government officers everybody gets involved in bloody politics. Ever since Late CM Dorjee Khandu died in a tragic chopper crash and subsequent battle for chief minister-ship among Congress leaders as witnessed by people of state, now populace of Arunachal mostly talks about “Government change or CM change.”

Journalist fraternities are always flooded with calls inquiring about possible government change. Many a times I feel like, government change is being orchestrated by group of people sipping beer at Naharlagun daily market or at someone’s house in Nirjuli!

While supporters of various camps are busy gossiping about possible government change, their leaders will be making shady deals with so called-rivals in order to make sure that their power remain intact.

The second most popular topic for gossiping among Arunachalee citizens is corruption. As per my observation two categories of people talks a lot about corruption. The first is those who have taken “retirement from corruption” and second is young unemployed youth who are honestly worried about corruption corrupting our tribal society.

Coming to first category of citizens, I mean those who took “retirement from corruption”, will not miss even a single opportunity to give lecture about corruption. During their heydays they accumulated so much of wealth through corruption that for next many generations their families will not have to worry about basic needs of life. As their families have nothing to worry, they no longer indulge in corrupt deal and therefore give free lecture on corruption to everyone.

But they often forgets that they are the one who had “sowed the seed of corruption” in Arunachal which is being followed by subsequent generations. It has become a regular affair for people to express concern about corruption and illegal appointments for government jobs. However it has been noticed that same citizens who express concern over corruption and illegal appointments will not hesitate to use such method for their personal gain at a given time.

My heart goes out to young innocent Arunachalees who are genuinely concerned about corruption destroying the basic fabric of tribal society. These young citizens, many of them still studying or recently college passed out, dream to see their state develop like other states of the country. They dream of better future and better Arunachal. However moment they start looking for job in Arunachal, their dream will start getting crushed. Reality awaits them!!  

 

 

BJP AP appeals elected representatives to support Sangma

ITANAGAR, Jun 24: The BJP Arunachal Pradesh appealed to all the elected representatives of Northeastern states to support the candidature of PA Sangma in the presidential election by shedding their political differences.

It is a pride for all the people of the Northeastern region and tribal communities of the country that a tribal leader is opting to contest the presidential election, said Bharatiya Janata Party National General Secretary Tapir Gao while seeking support from all elected representatives of northeastern states including Sikkim in a press conference here today.

The post of President had been represented by different communities of the country till today and it is our opportunity that a qualified candidate like Sangma from tribal and Christian community is contesting for the coveted post of the country.  He termed Sangma as a man with vast experiences in politics with all leadership qualities.

Regarding Arunachal-Assam interstate boundary issue, BJP said that neither Arunachal Pradesh government have any documents on Bordoloi committee report nor it is taking any serious step on the boundary issue despite reports of frequent boundary disputes.

The BJP said that Bordoloi Committee report is a one man committee report and there were no representative from the state at the time of preparation of the report.

Further there is a provision in which the state government can challenge it in Supreme Court.

Expressing displeasure over frequent boundary problems, BJP said that the people of Arunachal living in interstate boundary areas are facing enormous problems due to lack of proper action from successive Congress government.

The BJP urged the state government to take up the matter seriously for immediate solution of the interstate boundary issue adding that, his party is ready to support. The BJP also urged the state government to strengthen the activities of department of border management and provide necessary equipments and materials to the department for better execution of works.

BJP MLA Tamiyo Taga and BJP Arunachal Pradesh General Secretary Tai Tagak also attended the conference.

 

 

APCC terms bandh call meaningless

ITANAGAR, Jun 24: Arunachal Pradesh Congress Committee (APCC) has termed the  24-hr state-wide bandh call  by All Arunachal Pradesh Border Students’ Union on Monday as meaningless.

The APCC said that one should know the meaning of border and boundary first before talking about such sensitive and contentious issue. Moreover, students, if they really are, have nothing to do with either border or boundary.

Bandh only harasses the common people, snatch away the livelihood of daily wage earners, cause huge losses to the traders and state economy. Therefore, any organizations while claiming to be working for the people and giving bandh calls reflect their actions against the people, the party added.

The party further said that ruling government has given authority to the police to deal with the lawbreakers; the police should prove its professionalism by taking such bandh callers to task so that the masses do not suffer for a handful of people who are interested to serve either their own or their promoters’ vested interest.

Meanwhile, the Tata Mobile Welfare Association Naharlagun (TMWA) has condemned frequent bandh calls by various organizations/unions which badly affect the common people and daily wage earners.

“Such bandh calls not only hamper the various developmental activities but also create lots of problems for the people, particularly un-employed, who run the commercial vehicles purchased through bank loans which has to be paid back monthly on installment basis, IMWA said and  urged the state Govt. to look into the matter of those organizations who are agitating for various demands and grievances in order to avoid frequent bandh calls.

It suggested the bandh callers to adopt other democratic means for redressal of their various grievances and demands.

 

 

AMSU demands 5th APPBn HQ at Kathan

ITANAGAR, Jun 24: The All Mishmi Students’ Union (AMSU) called upon the state government to establish the proposed 5th APP Bn Headquarter at Kathan village immediately and issue fire arms licenses to the inhabitants of the area under Wakro circle in Lohit district.

Justifying its demands, AMSU president Sohalo Ngadong pointed out that the Kathan village under Wakro circle bordering Changlang district has become a safe heaven for anti-social elements, mostly involving  Chakma refugees,  which makes the life of innocence villager miserable. Moreover various outfit like UDLF, ULFA, NSCN, KNLF etc are spreading out their dragnets in the area due to its remoteness and sparse population in connivance with these refugees, it  said.  AMSU president and his team members are camping at Itanagar to meet the Chief Minister   regarding its demand.

Immediate establishment of 5th APP Bn Hq  at Kathan village will go a long way in minimizing the criminal activities in the area, the union opined while informing that villagers have already agreed to donate their community land free of cost for this purpose. The area had also been surveyed twice by the government, it added.

Justifying the demand for fire arms licenses to the inhabitants of the area under Wakro circle on special ground, the AMSU said incident of abduction, extortion notices, threats on daily basis have compelled the people to seek arms license. A list of license seekers has already been approved by the deputy commissioner, which now needs final approval from the state government, the union  added.

Meanwhile, All Arunachal Pradesh Students Union (AAPSU) president Takam Tatung, while endorsing the demands of the AMSU for establishment of 5th APP Bn Hq at Kathan village, reminded the state government that during the tenure of late Dorjee Khandu as CM, the government in principle had accepted the proposal for APPBn Hq. The AAPSU further informed that resolution for establishment of the same  was approved in its Federal Assembly held at Ziro to check criminal activities of the Chakma refugees who are reportedly in a spree of usurping  community land of the Mishmis in Kathan area.

 

 

Tana Poppy bags Miss Capital crown

Itanagar, Jun 24: Tana Poppy was crowned as the Miss Capital 2012 last night in a glittering event at Siddharth Hall here, after a tough competition among 16 tribal damsels, who cat-walked in the romp exposing their beauty, potentials and talents.

Poppy also bagged the title of ‘Miss Cat Walk’ and bagged an amount of 20,000.

Toyir Riba bagged the first runners-up title while Tana Mema was selected as the second runners-up of the extravaganza.

While the winner of the coveted title walked away with a Tata Nano car, first runners got Rs. 30,000 plus a scooty and the third winner was awarded with an amount of twenty thousand and a scooty.

“Winning and losing is a part and parcel of every competition and you should not disheartened for not winning the crown but should feel happy for getting a chance to take part in the event,” NESO secretary general Gumjum Haider who was the chief guest of the function commented while distributing the awards.

He appealed to the youths and student organizations to foster a sense of unity among various tribes of the state and to live up to the peoples’ expectations.

Hari Yaya won two titles of ‘Miss Personality’ and ‘Miss Talent’, while Tana Yaha bagged the titles of ‘Miss Beautiful Hair’ and ‘Miss Beautiful Skin’, the title for Miss Beautiful Smile went to Nada Yama and that of Miss Audience Choice went to Takam Kayu.

All the winners of sub-titles were awarded with cash reward of twenty thousand each.

In Group Dance competition which was also organized along with the beauty peagent contest, Sargam Dance Institute (Junior team) won the best group award while Dancing Devils won the first runners-up award and Arunachal Art Academy was the second runners-up of the event.

 

 

MUFC retain Dree football title

ITANAGAR, Jun 24: Four times champion Miichi United Football Club (MUFC) retained the U-30 Capital Complex Dree Football Tournament title defeating first timer Dam-Site Football Club (DSFC) 2-0 in the final at Rajiv Gandhi Stadium, Naharlagun today.

The defending champion took the lead as early as 4th minute into the match with a goal from Tadu Lampung.  Hage Apa made it 2-0 by scoring the another goal in the 10th minute. DSFC made several attempts to equalize but could not thwart the solid defence of the defending champion.

Hage Talloh of MUFC was chosen as the ‘Man of the Match’.

In another final match of the day, Service-XI scored at will to beat Khonkhung Football Club by a margin of 5-0 goals and lifted the title in the senior category.  The scorers were Duyu Kago, Miso Lailyang, Milo Nama, Tamo Tagiya and Racho Tatung in 3rd, 4th , 7th, 23rd and 63rd minutes respectively.

Miso Lailyang of S-XI was adjudged as the Man of the Match.

Takhe Hailyang of S-XI was adjudged as the Player of the Tournament in senior category while Duyu Kago and Tadu John became the highest scorer and best goalkeeper respectively.

Pegasus-XI was adjudged as best disciplined team of the tournament.

An exhibition match was also played between Capital Complex Dree Festival Committee and Dree Development Ground Committee in which the former defeated the latter by 2-0 goals.

MLA Techi Kaso, being the Chief Patron led the CCDFC and Er Kuru Sira was the captain of DDGC.  Hage Gambo of CCDFC was adjudged as the Man of the Match.

RTE and school fees

Dear Editor,

Like bandh calls it has been the regular news in Arunachal Times that school authorities are charging school fees in different schools of Arunachal Pradesh which is prohibited under RTE Act for the students of age group of 6 to 14 years. Yes, the DSE Itanagar had issued orders of banning collection of any kind of fee from students of class I to VIII time and again. It is also true that the govt is sanctioning some negligible amounts as maintenance and development under RMSA and SSA. There is no sanction of funds in the name of Examination where a huge amount is spent. Printing of question papers, purchasing of answer sheets involves huge amount of money. Where will the Principal/ Headmaster get this money if he/she is to conduct examination?  

In this regard, it is my suggestion to Headmasters/ Principals/ Teachers  that they may take parents and guardians into confidence before collection of school fee and narrate the whole thing but charging more than Rs 300/- per student for examination purpose is wrong. And it is also wrong to defy the order of the DSE and the Education department should know the problems of incurring a huge amount of money in examinations in schools and allot fund for it as the department has already implemented RTE Act in Arunachal Pradesh.

Life goes on

Dear Editor,

Through Readers Forum, some people have shared their grievances about the absence and non-availability of engineers in their respective area. At the same time, there were logical questions raised by unemployed frustrated engineers.

Now, what I wonder is, there are things messed up, undone jobs to be done, works to be completed!

In short, engineers are needed in Arunachal Pradesh for its infrastructure development, road connectivity, dam constructions, transport department etc!

But, the problem is, there is no window or door open for the deserving engineering students to get that job. Employment opportunities for the posts of J.Es, A.Es can be best described as, “once in a blue moon”. So, where are they supposed to go?

Someone rightly said, 'give chance to younger generation'. There are hundreds of Engineering Graduates, unemployed! If  vacant seats are already grabbed for years and years by some people, there is no chance of vacancy &employment!

Well, getting govt job at Arunachal Pradesh is a dream in every middle class family! Every parent wants to secure their son's or daughter's job through govt service. The thing is, they don't want the job, they want security, a secured future! Because they know, the fate of Arunachal may change anytime. What a pity!

However, life goes on! Poor people may die poor, rich people may die rich, but the gate of heaven will only open for the poor& destitute.

One day, Arunachal will change! Let us hope for the best.

Learn to swim at General Hospital, Naharlagun

Dear Editor,

It is very disheartening to catch a glimpse of terrible state of affairs of General Hospital, Naharlagun, where the patients as well as Medical staff may need to learn swimming inside the rainwater flooded hospital during the downpour.

Ever if you want to take the pleasure in having unforgettable experience of hospital visits, there may not be better place other than visiting here in General Hospital where you will be welcomed by amazing stinky aroma, multi-colored garbage, cracked wall, unhygienic impression, and so on. Water supply may not be sure from the tap or other water supply outlets but one can definitely get water coming down from the leaked roof of the hospital buildings.

If you are suffering from constipation, don`t worry, you have come to the right hospital, there is hardly any water inside the toilet and you need not be there.

If you want to watch deaf and dump TV, try watching at OT waiting room, you won`t be seeing anything other than your own reflected image on the TV screen. The wall of the hospital buildings are colored with spits of betel quid spewed out by gentleman visitors of the hospital. It is very difficult as to whom to blame, to Public who never raise such issues more than just murmuring or to Medical administration who seems to be more focused on raising buildings than renovating the old ? Why such pathetic state of affairs? Is it because of financial crunch or customary corruption or lack of civic sense?

No matter whoever may be, but everyone is a loser because the General Hospital is for all of us built by the Government from the Public exchequer.

Merger will disrupt working system

Dear Editor,

I have got some information that Mechanical Wing under PHE Department is on process of merging with electro-mechanical Wing under Dept of hydro power development GoAP.

One of Executive Engineers is very junior to some of Assistant Engineer's serving in DHPD, as per seniority list available in RWD.

These officer's were originally from RWD and later merged with various Departments i.e PHED, DHPD and APEDA. This merger will definitely invite legal complicacy and disrupt the working system of department.  This will also badly affect the working culture of water treatment plant, PHED where govt invested crores of money for good water drinking facilities, and also this will definitely reduce the employment opportunity of younger generation.

I would like to appeal Ministers of PHED and DHPD and Parliamentary secretaries to seriously think about it before they take any big decision.

Silly bandhs  

Dear Editor,

A bandh is a powerful means to express the anger over the issues pertaining to people or students. This should not be done for silly reasons affecting the general public and students.

Due to bandhs life of common people are  paralyzed and due to closure of shops and other establishments, daily life of common people are jeopardized.

Business community suffers very badly and due to lack of transport everyone is put to trouble. Students suffer badly due to closure of schools and colleges as the syllabus cannot be completed in time.

Sick people who medical attention need too suffer a lot while due to closure of banks and financial establishments, public will suffer very badly.

Hence we citizens of India should follow peaceful means like Satyagraha, demonstrated by Mahatma Gandhi to express our views instead of unreasonable activities like bandhs.

Enact a citizens’ charter

Dear Editor,

A letter in this column titled “A good step” by a concerned citizen on 22nd June 2012 was a very informative piece. If it is indeed true then it will be a very good example to emulate by other departments of the Government. The Minister for Health and Family Welfare should ensure that the order is adhered to in letter and spirit.

Indeed the state Govt. should enact a citizens’ charter to stop the harassment of gullible citizen. Hope the administrator in Directorate of Accounts take note of it. A file is pending in this office since the last six months or more. Whatever may be the excuses isn’t it too much to keep a file pending for such a long period?

No longer a country of shame

Sri Lanka is no longer in the United Nations Secretary-General's 'List of Shame' that lists countries where children are involved in armed conflict. Three years after the end of the three-decade long war during which the Tamil Tiger terrorists recruited thousands of children to fight the government forces, the country has been de-listed from the Report of the Secretary-General on Children and Armed Conflict.

The present report covering the period from January to December 2011 says that the security situation in Sri Lanka has been stabilized, gradually moving towards an early recovery. The section relating to Sri Lanka in the report says that no new cases of recruitment of children by armed groups have been reported since October 2009. However, the whereabouts of 1,373 children of a total of 6,905 who had been recruited by the Liberation Tigers of Tamil Eelam (LTTE) remains unknown. It says that the National Child Protection Authority has undertaken an independent investigation and made recommendations to the Government of Sri Lanka which are being pursued by the Criminal Investigation Division of the police.

It further says that since 2008, three rehabilitation centres have been in operation, providing education, care, psychosocial support and reunification assistance to children associated with LTTE. To date, 594 children aged between 12 and 18 years, including 364 boys and 230 girls, have completed the rehabilitation programme and have been reunited with their families.

Now, it is time to see how Sri Lanka Govt   move forward  to regain its glory and accelerate the path of development.
